I haven't totally given up on the idea of felting but I have come to the conclusion that knitting a tote bag strains my attention span therefore I am going back to the project of a small knitted pouch big enough for a smart phone, debit card, lip gloss, etc., but far smaller than a purse.
Felting the yarn for such a project creates a solid fabric that can hold everything securely but I haven't been able to figure out which yarn to use and my initial attempts created a fabric that was too thick and bulky.
I've lined up some thinner wool yarns and a selection of knitting needles and for the first time I am going to knit several test swatches.
